The Power of Desire

If you’re not obsessed with where God has told you to go then you don’t have enough to make it happen.

Jesus says, ‘Whatsoever things you desire..’ Not whatsoever you’re lackadaisical about.

God is a consuming fire not a lukewarm puddle. #obsession

God makes His servants as flames of fire not ashen embers.

The woman didn’t think about knocking politely. She knocked loudly, persistently & inconveniently.

The fire of God fell and consumed the sacrifice; it wasn’t playing nice church games.

The blind men cried out loudly, persistently until Jesus turned: that they may rec, their sight.

The woman with the blood issue pressed through the crowd to touch Jesus. It was a life or death move.

If you want what you really really want then passionate desire, focus & obsession are your friends.

The Kingdom & promises are seized with violent faith.

From the rising of the sun to its going down; you wake up & go to sleep with ur burning desire on ur mind, heart, prayers.

The Love Of God For The Unchurched

Everyone needs to be given access to God, His Son Jesus, the Blood of Christ & the Holy Spirit.

Stinking religion is bigoted & rejects ppl with derogatory labels & name calling. Jesus rejects no-one.

The despised & maligned of society: tax collectors, prostitutes, adulterors, thieves… all found salvation in Jesus.

Jesus was crucified where murderers kill, cynics mock, thieves curse, soldiers gamble, prideful gloat…He died for them & for good ppl too.

Jesus was despised, rejected, scorned, mocked, maligned, misunderstood, defamed, dishonoured…He knows how you feel… more than u think.

The work of the evangelist is so difficult today bc self-righteous churches don’t want the ppl Christ is reaching in their church.

You can’t be a city church when you’re against the people that make up your city. Love your city.

When the unchurched in your city run from you because you repel them then, to remind you, ppl ran to Jesus not from him.

Jesus love, acceptance & embrace of all people did not mean His approval of what they did, said, thought.

Thoughts For Husbands

  • Husbands if you love your wife she will not look at another man for intimacy; neither will you look at another woman.
  • Husbands if you guard, guide & govern through servant leadership in your home your family will love & adore you.
  • Husbands if you love your wife as Christ loves the church you’ll have the best marriage in town.
  • Husbands be kind & tenderhearted towards your wife. Do not be harsh & hardhearted.
  • Husbands if you love your wife during the day you’ll get to eat cheesecake at night. ;)
  • Husbands stop reducing your wife to your servant. Rather crown her as your queen.
  • Husbands your job is to present your wife to Christ without spot, wrinkle or blemish; not put them in her.
  • Husbands, when you take your place everyone else in the family falls into their place creating security, unity, harmony & order.
  • Husbands, when you take your place there will be no need to command anyone else in your family to take their place.
  • Husbands stop telling your wife what to do & where her place is; labour rather to step into your place & role.
  • Husbands, empowering your wife to be Christlike doesn’t mean lording over her but lifting her up with your actions, words & life.
  • Husbands, rather than making one big gesture of love towards your wife for you being a meanie, love her in all the every day small ways & the big ways.
  • Husbands, that one big gesture of flowers, a gift etc for your wife is usually you appeasing your bad conscience rather you loving her.
  • Husbands your FIRST ministry is to your wife & children; not your ministry, job or pleasure.
  • When the husband is distracted & the wife neglected the devil destroys.
  • Husbands when you are harsh & hardhearted toward your wife because of what God wants, is not what God wants.
  • When husbands tell me I’m rough with them but not to the wives I remind them who God called to in the garden.
  • Husbands, stop locking your wife out of your life; she completes you. ‘Bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh.’

Volunteer Workers

Recently at Touch ’12, our annual women’s conference, one of our speakers remarked how the same volunteer workers who were at the previous year’s conference were still serving at this one. I was interested by her observation and enquired why she would note this aspect of our ministry. She remarked how many ministries, including her own local church that she attends, has a massive turnover of volunteer workers across the board. It got me to thinking about our approach to volunteer workers in contrast to some other ministries we’ve encountered who struggle to mobilise and maintain a volunteer workforce. Here are some of my insights: Continue Reading

Serving The Purposes Of God In Your Generation

Acts 13:36 “David had served God’s purpose in his own generation.”

Church history tells us that various generations of believers failed to serve God’s purpose in their generation.

The question is: When we stand before Jesus at the end of the ages what will we say? What will He say? What will our generation say to us? Will you have played your part in serving the purposes of God in your generation?

Or will you apologise because you failed to overcome weak excuses that will be met with a hollow silence.

Jesus says serve the purposes of God whether your generation responds or not. Go to church. Be the church. Serve. Give. Win people to Christ. Advance the kingdom.

Let’s not fail them. Let’s not fail God.

Best Day Worst Day

When I preached my best sermon I had the same people.

When I preached my worst sermon I had the same people.

When I had a bad guest speaker I had the same people.

When I had a great guest speaker I had the same people.

When God moved I had the same people.

Church isn’t about one Sunday.

From Where I Stand

From where I stand most church people really don’t care about making a difference.

From where I stand most church people really aren’t bothered about changing.

From where I stand most church people wont be buying your book/cd/mp3.

From where I stand most church people wont be doers of the Word.

From where I stand most church people are most interested in themselves.

From where I stand most church people doubt far more than they believe.

From where I stand most church people are timid and cowardly.

From where I stand most church people are convinced they cant afford to give.

From where I stand most church people will take everything and give nothing without a conscience.

From where I stand most church people wont tell others about Christ and His church.

From where I stand most church people are way too self-absorbed to catch God’s heart.

From where I stand most church people follow their emotions not Christ.

From where I stand most church people really don’t give a damn about you.

Thank God, from where I stand you’re not most people. Neither are our faithful church workers.

Why you promote workers

Ministry is spelled H A R D  W O R K. It’s filled with tasks that require workers to serve selflessly. Local churches thrive to the proportion that their members volunteer to serve Christ and His body. The believer that volunteers to serve in the various departments of church life has caught the heart of Christ for His church, whom He gave His life and died for. Serving is an expression of God’s love in and through us.

The more the church catches the heart of Christ to serve the local church the bigger the church becomes – in feet, head and heart. Continue Reading

Permission To Fail

Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, was once told by his boss that he ‘wasn’t promotable’. We know many such stories where the impossible is made possible and the odds are defied. These people have many great qualities but the one that over-arches them all is their positive attitude; their optimism.

Failure is absorbed like a crash test dummy and they keep on keeping on. They don’t allow failure to cripple them but rather use it to forge a creativity that opens the way for them to succeed.

This is the place where permission to fail is given and promoted. Failure is not acceptable when it comes to the mundane, the usual, the expected, the average, the predictable, the habitual, the checklist, the established. Where failure is permitted it is with the step that was daring, full of risk, unique, original, inspiring.
